Das Hotel ist sogar etwa 35 Jahre älter als die Tudor-Monarchen: es wurde im Jahr 1450 erbaut. Die Original-Holzarbeiten im Außen- und Innenbereich sind außergewöhnlich gut erhalten. Die Holzaußenwände wurden erst 1935 entdeckt, als eine jahrhundertealte Steinfassade entfernt wurde. Ein Ornament von einem 'Wildman' oder 'Woodwose' genannten, geheimnisvollen Fabelwesen, das häufig in Kunstwerken des Mittelalters auftaucht und angeblich böse Geister abwehrt, ist in einen der Balken der Lounge geschnitzt. Die Gäste spüren die lange Geschichte des Gebäudes, sobald sie die Eingangshalle betreten. Massive, geformte Eichenholzbalken beherrschen den Rezeptionsbereich und den ältesten Teil des Gebäudes. Während der Zeit der Poststationen war das heutige Hotel das Postamt der Stadt und ein Anfahrtspunkt für Postkutschen aus London, Bury St. Edmunds und Norwich. Die Gäste können sich zurücklehnen und den wunderschönen elisabethanischen Kamin im Salon und die antiken Verzierungen im Cordell Restaurant bewundern. Das Hotel verfügt über insgesamt 25 Gästezimmer und ist vollständig rauchfrei. Zu den Einrichtungen zählen eine Bar, Internetzugang und ein großzügiger Parkplatz für Gäste mit Auto.
